Linda Miller at her Bernina 950
Using her distinctive, unique style, she creates rich, colourful, naive and humorous embroideries which contain figures set in the outdoors, always happy, always smiling, and usually depicted within a story.

Her work is exhibited successfully throughout the UK, Europe and the USA, and she has pieces held in the Southern Arts collection and within the permanent textile and dress collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Linda was the subject of a TV programme Talking Threads on the Country Channel, Sky 171 aired in November 2009.

A book entitled “Creative Machine Embroidery” published by
A and C Black and written by Linda is available now.
 
May/June 2011’s edition of Embroidery Magazine has an interview with Linda.  The article also has many lovely photos of Linda’s work.

Linda’s TV appearance on Kirstie Allsop’s  Kirstie’s Handmade Britain (Channel 4) was aired on Wednesday November 2nd.

An Evening Class in Machine  Embroidery

In the course you will learn how to translate your original design into your own picture of stitches, jewellery item or embroidery piece. Students will be guided throughout the course on all aspects of creating a design, placing imagery, incorporating a background and a fore ground into your design, and how to finish and present your work to its full and deserved potential.

 

The evening class is designed for the novice or the more confident stitcher who wishes to explore the numerous techniques and textures created by threads and stitch, not to mention the delight of sewing and working with colour to create pictorial machine embroideries.

 

Materials provided, but bring your own machine in good working order and any threads you have

 

Tea, Coffee and cakes provided
